It encourages independent learning and builds confidence. Key skills like time management and accessing electronic resources are developed.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We offer a wide range of subject choices, including Science, Engineering, Business Studies, IT and Computing, Arts, Mathematics, Health and Social Care, Sport and Exercise, and Languages.<\/li>\n<li>Each course\u00a0offered through YASS is Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) Level 7, equivalent to first year university level.<\/li>\n<li>Courses can last from five\u00a0to nine\u00a0months\u00a0and are clearly structured with timetables and deadlines.<\/li>\n<li>Studying with The OU gives you the flexibility to decide when and where you study each week.<\/li>\n<li>Shorter courses\u00a0normally require up to eight\u00a0hours of study a week, while a longer one can require up to 14\u00a0hours a week.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our Young Applicants in Schools Scheme (YASS) gives S6 students in Greenwood Academy the unique opportunity to study a range of university level courses in school alongside their other studies.
