This month we have been busy joining in with our peers in P1 for Structured Activities. We enjoy making things and playing with the toys in the infant department, as well as making new friends. As part of our Healthy Body topic, we have been tasting fruit and showing on a graph whether we liked the taste or not. Also, some of us took part in the P1 Assembly, to show our family what we have been learning in our first year at Elderbank. We joined our peers again to watch the Science Show led by Glasgow Science Centre. During some of our sunny days we have been practising our writing outside using chalk.

Classbase7 have been having fun in our Greenhouse where we have been practising potting and looking after plants. We know that our plants need water and sun to grow so we used our painting skills to make a sun and rain cloud to decorate our open area. We loved seeing the fire engine and we got an opportunity to work the hose and sit in the engine with the sirens on. Due to the good weather we have been planting our seeds in the garden. Hopefully they will grow into beautiful flowers.

P1 have been enjoying Science lessons and have spent time investigating plants in our outdoor area. We collected different leaves and use crayons to make leaf rubbings and discussed the different shapes and patterns. For the Outdoor Learning event, we worked with our parents and carers to make Cress Heads and showed them our planting skills. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us. P1 have been looking after five caterpillars, all of which turned into beautiful butterflies. We invited our parents and carers, along with our peers from the Supported Learning Department to watch as we released them. During Numeracy lessons we made paintings of butterflies to practise our skills in symmetry.
