Engineering in Elderbank

Please find information on our recent event – HERE

As you are aware we participated in the Primary Science Quality Mark award scheme. Science has been a key focus of the school development led by Miss Fish and our Science Ambassadors.

Together with the ongoing development, creation of the Science Laboratory in the Senior Area, development of teaching resources and involvement of parents, our submission was awarded a Silver Award which is a huge success. The award was formally presented to the children on Wednesday 8th November. Well done everyone!

Science in October

Many thanksfor attending Elderbank’s Science Open Afternoon.  The Science Ambassadors and the school are delighted that everyone enjoyed the afternoon and thanks all our visitors for taking the time the share interesting and futuristic robotic activities!  We had Jenny Stark from COAST – The Community Of Arran Seabed Trust started off our day by visiting the Primary 6 classes.  We learned about the importance of marine conservation and the mysteries of the oceans.  Jenny also shared her knowledge of diving and protecting the coast of Arran to encourage new marine life and conserve their habitats.

We also had visits from Greenwood Academy’s STEM class who brought along their LEGO Mindstorm Robots, they also encouraged some healthy engineering competition!

We also had a visit from Marty the Robot, a wi-fi enabled robot who is programmed by the children through Scratch programming.  Marty will be visiting us again and sharing all his knowledge of robotic technology!

Susan Burr also visited us with her swimming snails!!
