P6S have had another busy month!

This month we have been learning lots about Scotland, in particular learning about our national bard Robert Burns. We went to visit the Wellwood Centre in Irvine through Irvine Burns club and really got an insight into his the life of Burns and what he did whilst living in Irvine.

In literacy, we have been studying poetry. We have been learning about and writing different types of poetry such as haiku, kennings and cinquain poems. We had a school poetry recital competition which Katie won reciting the poem A Red Red Rose. P6 were also really lucky to be invited to attend the Burns Supper hosted by Primary 7.

In maths, we have been learning about different types of triangles and their properties. We have also been developing our knowledge of time via use of timetables.

P6S have been very busy this month doing lots of practical activities.

We made Christmas decorations to sell at the Christmas Fayre using old baubles and paint. Some of our designs included robins and Christmas trees.

We linked our Titanic topic into science lessons and investigated whether materials floated or sunk and which were waterproof or not.

We were also made boats using recycled junk materials and investigated if they stayed afloat or not.
