The Burns Supper has been a big focus for us this month. We have created artwork, written speeches, recited poetry and planned a variety of entertainment.
We made and tasted a variety of soups to further develop our cooking skills. We then put these skills to goods use when preparing the food for our Burns Supper.
We have continued to develop our poetry skills composing Kenning poems and metaphor poems. We have enjoyed sharing and displaying our poetry. Please look at our Poet’s Corner if you visit our classroom.
P7M have enjoyed a variety of activities over the past month. At the end of last term we hosted an open afternoon sharing our learning on WWII with parents and careers.
In the lead up to Christmas we worked in teams and used our design skills to construct a vehicle for the class elf. All designs met the success criteria.
On returning after the break we have started preparations for the P7 Burns Supper. We have been developing skills in food preparation including peeling and chopping.
We have also been working on our poetry skills composing poems in Scots and Haiku.
Mrs Newbigging from Greenwood visited as part of our transition programme to Secondary. We developed our understanding of probability through a range of fun activities.
It has been another busy term for P7M. We had lots of fun visiting P2 to play our energy games we made. This helped us teach the infants how to save energy.
Our new Topic has been very interesting. To help us experience what it may have been like for children during WWII we have undertaken Drama activities related to ‘Friend of Foe’ by Michael Morpurgo.
We have been investigating what helps seeds germinate and what happens when yeast id added to dough. We then recorded the results and created graphs.
P7 had a great time in Arran. The weather was favourable in both weeks and we had a great time exploring, sailing, climbing and investigating.
Back at school we helped prepare for the MacMillan coffee morning by making cakes then we they took turns serving them to our guests.
We have had lots of fun creating our ‘Energy Saving’ game boards. We are looking forward to playing them with the younger pupils.
We also loved the K’nex challenge to make a windmill. All the teams were success and what a variety of designs.
We have enjoyed visits from Dr Field and Madame Pesci developing skills and knowledge in Maths/Science and French.
P7M have had a busy few weeks. In HWB as well as sharing our ‘Me Bags’ we have explored a range of different feelings and how they can affect how we process day to day interactions. We have a daily ‘feelings’ check in to help us recognise our own emotions.
We have also been developing our VCOP skills. We have assessed pieces of writing to identify what makes them good and how they can be improved. We have then produced our own texts.
We had lots of fun finding out about renewable energy with our speed dating activity. This helped us to find key information and take notes.
We are beginning to develop our skills in cooking. We used the apples from Mrs McRae’s garden to make apple crumble. Yum yum!
