During STEM, P5A were set a challenge to create a ski-ing person using only tinfoil, lollipop sticks and cello tape. After creating the structures, we then tested their stability going down a slope.

In HWB, we have been discussing healthy food choices and looking at the main food groups. We discussed healthy alternatives to traditional recipes and then made our own healthier-take on strawberry cheesecake. We used skills of measuring and cutting at the cooking stations and the end result was very yummy!

In PE, we have been focusing on our badminton skills and practicing different shots such as the overhead clear and serving. We have been playing lots of different games and drills to improve our skills.

We also have been taking part in Winter themed STEM activities which so far have included building an igloo out of sugar cubes and creating a winter scene on laptops. This has involved applying our knowledge of STEM to tasks and work collaboratively with our peers.

P5A have started their new topic Space. We have been using different sources (video clips, internet searches, non-fiction books) to research interesting facts about the planets in our solar system. Working in groups, we used these interesting facts to create a fact file for each planet. We have also been using our art skills to paint the planets to display in our classroom. We looked at different techniques to make the correct texture on the planet.
