In class our new topic is ‘The Artic’. Working in groups to research animals from the artic using the internet. This helped us find out lots of interesting facts about their habitat, food and how they survive living is cold places. We used what we had learned to make fact files for our class display.
During gym with Mrs Mckenzie, we were working well in groups, having lots of fun and practicing out balance and teamwork along the way.
In P.E the boys and girls in Primary 4 have been doing some floor work as part of Gymnastics. They have been working on making shapes with their body and using these positions to start forward and backward rolls. They found the backward rolls tricky at the start but managed to do some wonderful examples by the end.
We had a special visit from British Olympian Eilish McColgan, she gave us a presentation on top tips for being healthy and achieving our goals. We enjoyed having her in our class and getting to see her medals and equipment.
Throughout our Viking topic we had a chance to research information using the internet to find facts about the Vikings.
This term we have enjoyed the chance to work in the open area activities. The shop have been a big hit. We have enjoyed using shopping lists and counting out money to pay for items.
We have been learning all about using grid references. The class have been using their skills to locate points on a grid and write down the coordinates of objects.
Volume was one of our maths topics this term. We learned how to measure in litres and millilitres and compared the volumes of different shaped containers. The class had a go at making their own before testing the volume to see which container could hold the most.
P4P have been very busy this month. We have been creating a story about the character on the screen “Tom Trueheart” after watching character description.
In mathematics, we have been investigating how to use balance scales and measure weight using non-standard units. Some of us have been creating our own container that will be used to investigate differences in volume. The aim is to be the group with the container than can hold the most when it comes to testing them and measuring the volumes.
