Macmillan Cancer Support – World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

Friday 29th September 2017

Elderbank Primary School, Early Years and Supported Learning, together with the support of the Parent Council are delighted to announce that we will be hosting our third Macmillan Cancer Support World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.  Our coffee morning will be held on Friday 30th September between 9:20 and 11:30am.  where there will be tea, coffee, juice and of course a variety of cakes!

We have invited guests from our local community and the children are keen for their families to come along too!

We are delighted to invite up to two guests per family.  Please complete the tear off slip below, indicating how many guests are able to attend and return it to the school by Tuesday 26th September to ensure we have enough cakes for everyone!  If you wish to have cake with your child/children, please see the attached timetable.  It is anticipated that this will be a busy morning and in order for everyone to be seated and enjoy cake we have allotted times for the classes and their guests.

As always, any donations of cakes, sweets and treats are always welcome! If you wish to donate cakes, tea, coffee or juice, please drop off any donations to the school on Thursday afternoon or Friday morning.

Although there will be no charge for the coffee morning, the House Captains and Vice Captains will be collecting donations.

Your support is greatly appreciated and we hope you will be able to play your part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Please dig deep for a worthwhile cause!

Kind regards,

Miss Robertson

Primary 6 Author Visit

The primary 6 pupils really enjoyed their visit to the Reimagination Book Festival in Irvine on the 28th August. They got the opportunity to meet Mitch Johnson and hear all about his book ‘Kick’, which tells the story of a boy of who works in a sweat shop making football boots but dreams of becoming a footballer. Some had the opportunity to take part in a competition where they had to lace up a pair of football boots in the fastest time. They really enjoyed cheering each other on. Pupils also took part in a question and answer session with Mitch where they were able to gain an insight into the writing process and what it is like to be an author. They each received a copy of the book and many pupils are now enjoying reading it in class and at home.
