Pupils will develop a deeper understanding of the subject which will better prepare them for the senior school. \u00a0The design of the S3 course was considered in relation to the structure of National and the Higher course, ensuring coherence and progression from one stage to the next.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How will I learn?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Visual demonstrations: whole class \u2013 small groups.1:1 working with teacher, peer-assessment, self-assessment, teacher feedback, paired working, group work, identify good practice to create guidelines, questioning to clarify understanding, the use of good practice examples, learning conversations, chunking, learning from peers, use of previous knowledge, discussion based activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What topics will I learn?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Portriature<\/li>\n<li>Technical and observational drawing skills<\/li>\n<li>Design in jewellery\/lighting<\/li>\n<li>Investigation and research of artists and designers<\/li>\n<li>Critical analysis of artists and designers work<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In S3 pupils will be given a greater degree of ownership and responsibility for developing their approach within the subject. They will use the skills acquired in S1 and S2 and begin to make their own decisions within a structure, allowing for greater personalisation and choice. \u00a0This will prepare pupils for a more independent approach in <strong>Nationals and Higher Art and Design<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What skills are developed?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Observation<\/li>\n<li>Media handling and media properties<\/li>\n<li>Visual elements &#8211; use of visual elements and concepts to create atmosphere and mood<\/li>\n<li>Develop and communicate &#8211; expressive solutions and design solutions<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of the design process<\/li>\n<li>Researching the work of artists\/designers<\/li>\n<li>Critical analysis<\/li>\n<li>Self-evaluation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How will I be assessed?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pupils continuously and naturally assess their work based on the success criteria whilst working through a unit. \u00a0As well as self-assessment pupils will receive quality feedback from their peers and throughout the lesson from the teacher when required. \u00a0Assessment will also occur when chunks of work are complete. \u00a0At this stage pupils will have small group learning conversation with teaching staff based on the pupil\u2019s findings. \u00a0Together we will begin to gauge levels in accordance to the Experiences and Outcomes as well as the National Benchmarks and will establish the pupil\u2019s next steps with regards to progression. \u00a0All information collected through discussion and documentation will be fed into pupils reports.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What might this help me with when I leave school?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Creative Industries contribute \u00a33.7bn to the Scottish economy each year, supporting 71,800 jobs. \u00a0Skills developed in this subject however are transferable and can be used across different employment sectors.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is the course?
