{"id":2194,"date":"2023-03-30T13:17:47","date_gmt":"2023-03-30T12:17:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/my\/pilmuirprimaryschool\/?p=2194"},"modified":"2023-03-30T13:17:47","modified_gmt":"2023-03-30T12:17:47","slug":"term-3-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/my\/pilmuirprimaryschool\/2023\/03\/30\/term-3-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Term 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">What a fantastic term we have had in Primary 6.\u00a0 We have had a term full of fun and new learning opportunities<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Literacy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>In Literacy this term we have been focusing on the genre of adventure.\u00a0 Our class novel \u2018Journey to the River Sea\u2019 supports this and has engaged the children beautifully in the exciting adventures of its main character Mia.\u00a0 Using Talk for Writing methods the children have been innovating on the short story \u2018Safia and the Captain\u2019 by Pie Corbett creating their own characters with a particular focus on appropriate paragraphing and developing adventure through the use exciting verbs and adverbs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0Accelerated Reader has been ongoing as an independent activity with most children working hard to read books and then complete a test.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Numeracy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">During this term primary 6 have been working on money and fractions.\u00a0 Primary 6 have enjoyed some shop role play and are now confident in the four operations with money. \u00a0Primary 6 have also been working hard on fractions and are becoming more confident in calculating fractions of amounts, comparing and ordering fractions and equivalent fractions.
