{"id":1923,"date":"2026-07-08T13:21:01","date_gmt":"2026-07-08T13:21:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/my\/mdlt\/?p=1923"},"modified":"2026-07-08T13:24:46","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T13:24:46","slug":"class-teams-and-google-classroom-management","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/my\/mdlt\/2026\/07\/08\/class-teams-and-google-classroom-management\/","title":{"rendered":"Class Teams and Google Classroom Management"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It\u2019s that time of year again when the MIS Support and Digital Learning Team start to see an increase in requests to restore \u201cmissing\u201d Microsoft Teams and Google Classrooms that have been accidentally deleted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that there is only a limited timeframe during which deleted Teams and Classrooms can be recovered (30 days). With this in mind, we strongly recommend that you check you still have access to all the virtual learning spaces you need before the summer break. If you delete a Team, this action removes it for all members, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Posts and conversations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Documents and files<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All associated content<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a confirmation pop-up and multiple steps involved in deleting a Team, which should make deleting the Team unintentionally less likely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"626\" height=\"230\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/my\/public\/mdlt\/uploads\/sites\/5597\/2026\/07\/08132436\/Teams-Delete-Message.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1926\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/my\/public\/mdlt\/uploads\/sites\/5597\/2026\/07\/08132436\/Teams-Delete-Message.jpg 626w, https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/my\/public\/mdlt\/uploads\/sites\/5597\/2026\/07\/08132436\/Teams-Delete-Message-300x110.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 626px) 100vw, 626px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udc49 <strong>Best practice:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are unsure whether a Team or Classroom is still needed, it is much safer to leave or archive it rather than delete it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Check with other Team Owners if they still require access.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove Members (usually learners) from Class Teams if access is no longer required.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Archiving a Team will allow learners to view content, but not add or edit content or posts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important Information About Restoring Teams<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please be aware that we do not have local administrative access to search for or restore deleted Teams or Classrooms. Any recovery request must be submitted to RM Unify.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To improve the chances of successful restoration, please provide as much detail as possible, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Team name<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Approximate date of deletion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Name of the person who deleted it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Names of any Team owners<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This information is essential, as all deleted Teams from across Scotland are placed into a single recycling system, making searches more complex. Try taking a screenshot of your Teams or Classroom home page to ensure you have details of the correct names<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Muting Teams\/Classrooms<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure learners are not posting comments in your unsupervised Teams or Google Classrooms, please ensure you mute them to disable the ability to comment or post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This can be done in the Members or People section of the settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Muting is only available in Class Teams in Glow and not Teams created with other templates.
