Hello and welcome to Week 10. I hope you have enjoyed your home learning over the term, and you continue to excel and surprise yourselves with ability, commitment, and growth mindset. I know It has been tricky to find a balance between all the responsibilities inside and outside home and feel like you are giving 100% to everything. Please know I am grateful for the dedication, support, diligence, and perseverance over the past 12 weeks (pre-Easter Holidays too – that was an age ago!).
Just one last push this week for Term 4 Week 10 before we shift focus to Health Week and really aim to boost our physical, mental and social Health and Well-being before the end of the school year. Please see below for some general info and then this week’s tasks.
General Information
Health Week – Please share your talents for the Talent Show. Entries should be approx. 1 minute in length and emailed to kevin.stuart7@moray-edunet.gov.uk . Bishopmill’s Got Talent! Send your videos to Mr Stuart at the above email. Can you dance, sing, tell some jokes, play an instrument, do gymnastics or something else?! In Health Week we will all get to see it.
Article of the Week Article 28 – The right to education
Every child has the right to an education.
Primary education must be free and different forms of secondary education must be available to every child. Discipline in schools must respect children’s dignity and their rights. Richer countries must help poorer countries achieve this.
This Article is probably the most memorable for pupils as it applies to every single day in school and is the responsibility of every adult in Bishopmill. See this week’s task for an exploration of Education around the world.
Uploads – Yearbooks will be sent to the printers this week and we will be in touch about collecting a copy before the end of the school year. If you still haven’t submitted your page, please do so ASAP and contact me via GLOW if you need some support or ICT assistance. There is always a way to solve ICT issues.
Please regularly check the EA Transition 19/20 page and EA Library. Your new subject teachers and departments are posting challenges and tasks to create a sense of community and togetherness for the digital transition.
Team Meet – This Wednesday will be our last team meet. The pupils had a blast playing the Scavenger Hunt game last week, so we are going to do it again this week – but much more difficult. Our meeting will be at 10:00 on Wednesday 17th June.
Home Learning Week 10
Literacy – Research Education.
Research & create a 1-page document on education in a different country. School day, timings, uniform, subjects, food, languages etc. Can you find similarities with Scottish Education and differences with Scottish Education? Remember to include Article 28 & the definition.
Do the children in your chosen country have the right? How is education for boys & girls? Education differs all over the world, and access is not always guaranteed. As always this can be created by hand using your artistic and presentation skills, or digitally using Word, PowerPoint, or any other program.
Reading – Continue with your chosen novel / book and keep up to date with current affairs with Newsround. Newsround have a fantastic special on Black Lives Matter that might help you understand the protests demanding equal rights and fair treatment.
Modern Languages – Key Phrases.
We’ve been doing some quality revision of our French & German vocabulary. This week we will try to practice some key phrases and imagine we are on our holiday. You will need to know how to ask for tickets, food and directions. Use Google Translate to try the following
Excuse me Please Thank you
Turn left Turn Right Go Straight
I would like (number) tickets How do I get to (place)?
As well as using Google try practicing with a friend over digital platforms or keeping social distancing rules practice in someone’s garden.
Maths – Create your Daily Timetable
P7 – Create your ideal Elgin Academy / High School week.
Firstly can you draw a grid/timetable that includes space to read
- Day of the week
- Time sequences
- Period 1-7
- Slot for breaktime, lunch time & home time.
Use a ruler & pencil + blank paper or try creating a digital time table using Microsoft Word, Excel, or another program. You must have at least 1 period of each subject, then you can repeat subjects in remaining spaces. Subjects include
Art & Design, Biology, Business &Digital Learning, Chemistry, Design & Technology, Drama, English, Geography, Guidance, History, Home Economics, Library, Maths, Modern Languages, Modern Studies, Music, PE, Physics, RME.

Miss McNab’s page has the Where am I challenge, Travel to Tokyo and Health Week opporunities.
Article 28- Art
Article 28 is all about the right to education and how this should be a right for all children around the world. Not all children want to go to school, and this can be difficult for them to progress in school because they are not making the best of their opportunity.
What makes a good learner? Invent a cartoon character to represent a good learner. You can choose any style you wish (cartoon, graphic novel, comic character, any TV or movie style), Think about behaviour, attitude and skills that make you a good learner. Don’t forget about growth mindset and health (food, sleep, exercise, friendships, family).
Please contact me through GLOW if you need any help, support or guidance with anything.
Have a great week and get your talent show vids send to Mr Stuart.
