Maths
P3/4DS have been working on a range of areas this term and have just finished exploring the areas of fractions and information handling. We feel that time is an important tool and one that can be discussed at home as part of your routine.
This week we encourage children to practise telling the time by reading analogue and digital clocks around the home. Discuss important times of the day e.g. when they get up, have breakfast, play in the garden, watch their favourite TV show etc. Children can record the activities and times if they wish.

Pupils can also practise their mental maths by completing games on Heinemann Active Maths and Sumdog.

Health and Wellbeing.
Exercise has so many benefits for our health. It keeps your body healthy and can lift your mood. Exercising in the morning can help you become more alert for the day ahead. This week we will like children to try and exercise each day, this can be done in the house, garden or by going for a family walk. We encourage children to share which exercises they prefer doing and how it makes them feel. Joe Wicks will deliver live 30-minute workouts on his YouTube Channel from 9am throughout the week. These require little space and are designed to energise us!

Writing
Title: How to Train Your Dragon
At the end of this term our class was introduced to the novel ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ by Cressida Cowell. The class have enjoyed art and reading activities based on the story. Our suggested writing activity is for children to create their own instruction guide on how to train a dragon. Pupils can use their imagination to create 5 rules for training their dragon and to make them into a list of instructions. E.g. 1. Keep your egg warm and safe until it hatches. 2. Feed you dragon fresh fish and rodents. 3. Make friends with your dragon. etc…. Pupils can also make it into a bright and attractive poster.

Reading Activity
P3/4DS have been learning answer questions on their reading through paired reading and group discussion. This suggested reading activity should be on a familiar story to both parent and child.
Discuss their favourite story book and encourage them to re-read their favourite part. Play Reading Noughts and Crosses (attached). When a player has discussed the statement or answered the question, they can claim the box by writing their name in it. The first person to get three in a row WINS!!

We wish you all a safe and happy Easter holidays when they come.
