Climate Week Monday 4th March

We have been discussing climate change and the effects it has on our world, in class this afternoon.

Our task for today was to make a small picture and imagine we were super hero’s and show in our picture what our super power was!

for example John was Beast Boy and his power was to repopulate the world.

We then turned our pictures in to badges.

Committee Meeting

On the 8th January we held our first Committee meeting of the year where we discussed our Action Plan.

We decided to make up rotas to make sure that everyone took their turn at litter picking, milkshake Monday etc.

It was decided to replace “Toastie Tuesday”  with “Tasty Tuesday”. This will take place every second Tuesday of the month when we will make a tasty snack! We plan to make pancakes this month.

We now have “Wakeup Wednesday” with a 10 min  warm up of a mixture of games.

Eco Schools

This page is what we do in our Eco group at Inveravon Primary School.

We have two groups for Eco Schools. They are called the Green Ambassadors (P1-4) and The John Muir Group (P5-7).

The Green Ambassadors meet every week with Mrs Lawson and Mrs Ferguson to work on the Sensory Garden and our new polytunnel. Sometimes we plant vegetables, fruit and plants in the polytunnel and then we plant them in the garden or in the flower tubs in the school playground. After all that we try to keep the school grounds tidy by doing some weeding.

We are very proud of our garden and playground because we are helping to look after wildlife, we love tasting the fruit and vegetables that we grow and we have lots of fun!

P5-7 are doing a project about John Muir and how he fell in love with the nature world. The reason why we are doing this is to try and win the John Muir award. The ways you can win are by discovering a wild place, exploring its wilderness, conserving a wild place and sharing your experiences. We will win a certificate if we enter the competition.

So far, Alyce and Sinead have made a poster about John Muir, Finlay and William made a flyer telling us about the life and times of John Muir, which will be sent home to parents this term, and Henry, Sam and John have created a PowerPoint all about his life. We plan to show this along with a play before the summer break.

After that, our plan is to develop the grounds behind the school into a wildlife area. This will include a wet area and we will hopefully show pupils from other schools around our wildlife area in the future.
