This term’s learning context for 6W is titled Up, Up and Away where\u00a0pupils are\u00a0studying the solar system, forces, gravity and air resistance.\u00a0 Pupils have\u00a0extended their class based learning\u00a0by choosing a two week homework project.\u00a0\u00a0On Friday\u00a0we\u00a0had talks\u00a0about Isaac Newton and gravity, and pictures showing\u00a0what life would be like\u00a0without gravity.\u00a0 Millie Hepple\u00a0reviewed\u00a0a film clip, La Voyage de la Lune, explaining what was\u00a0fact and what was fiction.\u00a0 Creativity came to the fore with collage pictures of rockets, planets\u00a0and the universe, while the Race into Space was documented chronologically in a number of imaginative ways.\u00a0 Emily Thomas demonstrated how Earth orbits the Sun with\u00a0her model, while\u00a0Leigh Morrison explained the effects of being in space on the human body.\u00a0 A flick book showing the Moon’s phases was made by Finlay McGhee\u00a0– this\u00a0fitted in well with the Moon being closest to Earth in 7o years on Monday 14th November.\u00a0 A number of pupils tackled the baking challenge and many cakes, tray bakes, cookies and cake pops were created into stars and planets.\u00a0\u00a0The enthusiasm of the children as they proudly present their homework is\u00a0wonderful.\u00a0\u00a0They show resourcefulness, creativity, the ability to meet a challenge and respect for each others work – all\u00a0skills that prepare them well for their futures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
