This afternoon I was discussing the beach with a group of children as they played in the sand. We talked about things we had found and what we did. I shared a story about finding a starfish on the beach in Shetland.

The display board as you enter the Nursery has a new look. On this board staff will post information on what is happening in Nursery during the week ahead.

The I can tree is now up in the Nursery, you really can’t miss it! The tree links to the four capacities of Curriculum for Excellence. A child friendly explanation of the four capacities is displayed beside the tree. Over the year the tree will grow as the children add leaves sharing all the things they can do both at home and in Nursery. I will post photos on here of the tree as it grows.

We all want our children to grow up happy, confident, secure and able to cope with life’s challenges. Some children manage this better than others. Ever wondered why this is?

There is the opportunity to find out more through a 7 week course which aims to give parents and carers the chance to explore emotional well-being and best to promote it in ourselves and our children. Drawing on the latest findings and research it helps to explain why what you do makes a difference.

Over the next week you will notice a tree as you first enter the Nursery. The tree will grow throughout the year as we fill it with leaves showing different things the children can do. At group time and at home (with help) children will complete a leaf and share their achievements with their friends and families.

Friday 29th August – morning children attend the afternoon session and  afternoon children  attend in the morning.

Afternoon session 12:25 – 3:35 pm

This week we look forward to meeting our new children who will be joining us at Lawfield Nursery. The children will come in for a tour of the Nursery and to meet the staff. During the first visit letters will be handed out with start dates. When the children come in for their start date we ask a parent or family member to stay and complete paperwork while the child plays. Nursery staff will be on hand to answer any questions.
