Stay and Play

Stay and play with your child, have a look at the activities on offer in the Nursery and chat to Nursery staff. We have planned the following days for our youngest children who are remaining in Nursery after the summer. 8:30 – 9:20 for AM children and 12:30 – 1:20 for PM children.  Due to numbers in the Nursery all we ask is no more than 2 adults per child on the day:

  • 22nd May red and purple groups
  • 5th June – yellow and green groups
  • 12th June – blue and orange

Grants

We have been very fortunate to secure the following grants for the Nursery:

  • £350 from Taylor Wimpey to purchase a builders yard
  • £125 from Dalkeith Lodge to purchase a mud kitchen
  • £300 from Aerial ABW cabs to purchase a sand pit
  • £200 from McSence to purchase a literacy shed

We would like to thank all the companies for their generous donations. Photos of all the resources will be displayed in Nursery and online very soon. A huge thanks to Mrs Duffy for her continued support and hard work  securing grants for the Nursery.

New in Nursery

In response to the children talking about shopping we have set up a shop beside the home area. On Friday our new till, baskets and money arrived.

Nursery Planning Wall

We have moved our planning wall to a bigger space to allow us to include work from the children. As stated in our Aims and Vision all our planning is responsive and recently our children have started working on their own planning sheets at group time. We use a traffic light system to allow the children to talk about what they like, dislike and what they would like to change. Please have a look at our new planning wall next time you visit the Nursery!

Advice and Tips for Transition

Is your child starting school in August 2015?

Tricia Di Duca, Home Link Teacher, Mrs Knight and Mrs Duffy   will be running a session for parents of children who are starting school in August. We have designed the session to include tips on how to make the transition to Primary school as smooth and as happy as possible and to answer any queries you may have at this very exciting time.  We are running this in the Creche room on:

  • Monday 11th May from 8.30 to 9.30 am
  • Monday 11th May  from 12.30 to 1.30 pm

It does not matter which school your child is going to as the advice and tips are relevant to every parent with a child starting school.

Please sign up for one of the sessions

and we look forward to seeing you there.
