A huge thank you to Persimmon Homes East Scotland for their very generous donation towards our Nursery garden.
Thank you to Midlothian Advertiser for the following article:
A house builder has donated funds to help a Midlothian nursery school to develop its facilities for budding young artists and builders.
Lawfield Nursery is among the local groups to be given a cash boost by Persimmon Homes East Scotland as part of its year-long Community Champions initiative to support local communities.
The construction firm, which is building at its nearby Dewar Park development in Gorebridge, was particularly impressed by the nursery’s dedication to create a new learning environment for the children. Staff and parents at the nursery have been actively fundraising to transform the outdoor area into a learning environment, which will include a builders’ shed, sand pit and an arts and crafts corner.
Clair Duffy from Lawfield Nursery said: “We are delighted to receive this generous grant from the Community Champions initiative.
“The money received will allow us to develop and enhance our outdoor learning environment and promote learning through play.
“All children will benefit greatly from the opportunities these new resources will provide.”
The donation of £800 to the Mayfield nursery is part of Persimmon’s Community Champions project, which will see a ring-fenced fund pot of £24,000 donated to local groups and charities over the next 12 months throughout its region.
Jim Kirkpatrick, managing director at Persimmon Homes East Scotland, said: “We are very proud to hand over this donation to Lawfield Nursery, an extremely worthy cause that clearly strives to create a quality learning environment and I look forward to seeing their new facilities in the near future.”
The Persimmon Community Champions initiative is a national programme where charities and groups can apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves. Nationwide the company will donate a total of £750,000. Two groups are chosen every month to receive a match-funding donation. This month a donation was also made to the Productive Parents group in Falkirk.
Organisations are being encouraged to apply for this funding by completing an online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity.
