General week of p7!!!!! by Eve, Neiva and Lucy:-)

This week in P7 we have been working on doing partitioning. We have been partitioning 7 digit numbers in our maths and multiplying them by a 1 digit number. For literacy we have been focusing on fronted adverbials and colons. The meteors spelling group have been focusing on the ory, ary and ery spelling rule and the moons spelling group were working on the trans, tele bi spelling rule. For this term in writing we are focusing on functional writing. This week we were writing newspapers and  for this weeks newspaper we wrote it on Book Week Scotland. In reading we have added a chair person who listens into  the conversation and gives out tally marks for using our dialogic skills: sitting nicely , engaging in the conversation and listens and looks at the person talking. That’s all for  today! Happy Friday! BYE <<<333 xxxx

Book Week Scotland At Whinhill by Eve & Lucy

For book week Scotland, the P1-3’s  had a lovely visit from Susan Wilson for their storytelling time. The P1-3’s love reading books especially when people read to them . The P7’s went down to their P1 buddies and read them books in the library or in the P1 classrooms. The P1’s loved getting read  to by the buddies . In our classes we have been doing DEAR time. Between P7 and the 7’s from P7/6 we have been reading Divided City for social studies and having discussions about the two teams : Rangers and Celtic. We also have books in our trays and we always update our library. We were also writing newspaper reports telling people all about Book Week Scotland. Some people went to the book club in the book nook on Wednesday with Miss Spencer and Mrs Tucker.

Love from Lucy and Eve!! xx

Our Assembly

Hello it’s Lily-May and Isla C. Today we will be writing about our class assembly that occurred  this morning. We were quite nervous but we managed to complete it. Our class assembly was about a new girl starting p7, at Whinhill, and her teacher and class mates all help her to understand the whinhill way! The whinhill way is making sure we follow our values, girfec, y-chart and especially our class and playground charters.  We also sang some classic whinhill songs. For example we’re on this road. The younger ones absolutely adored it!

We used lots of skills during our assembly- our focus skill for this week was communication!! We used our dialogic skills during the performance.

Place value by Neiva and Eve :)

For math we have been focusing on place value. We have been going up to 7 digits! P7'sfrom Mrs Alexanders class have been joining us for math. We have 3 groups and we have been doing ordering and sequencing and adding 100/taking away 100.Everyone in class has been enjoying this! We have been trying our hardest to finish our work on time and we are so excited to see what our next focus in math is!

We have also been doing shape in math with p7/6, we have learned about 3d shapes and their names and also 2d shapes. We took our learning outside... We love outdoor learning!!

Playmakers Update!!! By Eve and Neiva

During our 3rd week in P7 Caitlyn, our active schools Coordinator, came in to P7 to talk about a big opportunity that only P7s can do and that is getting to be playmakers. We made application forms and we will be starting this in a couple of weeks… This means that during lunch or after school we will take a class and teach them games so that we are using our skills for learning life and work. We will be using skills such as working with others, being a leader, managing time and thinking creatively. We are so excited to become playmakers! and that is all thanks to Caitlyn.

First Week of Primary 7

Hi this is Zoe and Sara  from Primary 7.We are here to tell you about our first week in P7. It has been fabulous so far because our teachers are amazing. We have learned lots of stuff this week, here are some examples: First thing we did was our fantastic class charter with a theme of…MINIONS! Then for spelling we were revising the ture and sure spelling rule. Next we had a dialogic discussion about our Y chart to decide what was going on it. It was wonderful. After all that hard work we made a front cover for our skills scrapbook that we will fill in throughout the year with all the ways we have developed our skills… Another thing we did was a personal writing piece about our biggest adventure and it was so fun. Afterwards each of us made an outstanding girfec [girfec is an anagram for getting it right for every child] poem. Finally during we have been learning about place value with 5,6 and 7 digit numbers and we played some games using dice, it was super entertaining… we loved working together for the game.

See you in our next post !!!!
