Children\u2019s Rights are at the heart of practice at Wellpark. They are embedded in our \u201cGetting it Right for Every Child Approach and are an important part of children\u2019s experiences.<\/p>\n
The UNCRC is the most widely ratified human rights treaty in history. The Convention has 54 articles that cover all aspects of a child\u2019s life and set out the civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights that all children everywhere are entitled to. It also explains how adults and governments must work together to make sure all children can enjoy all their rights.<\/p>\n
In 1989, governments worldwide promised all children the same rights by adopting the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, also known as the CRC or UNCRC. The Convention changed the way children are viewed and treated \u2013 in other words, as human beings with a distinct set of rights instead of as passive objects of care and charity.
\nThese rights describe what a child needs to survive, grow, and live up to their potential in the world. They apply equally to every child, no matter who they are or where they come from. All children have rights, even those affected by conflict or emergencies, like the recent earthquake in Nepal.<\/p>\n

We have children\u2019s rights displayed all around the nursery in both picture and word format to encourage awareness of rights and how they are taken forward.<\/p>\n
Children learn about their rights in lots of different ways.<\/p>\n
We have leaflets for parents to inform them about our Children\u2019s Rights learning<\/p>\n
We recently registered to become a Rights Respecting school and have our bronze award.<\/p>\n
As part of our learning, we have a programme with our special rights mascot called “Robbie Rights”. Children learn about different rights each week with Robbie.<\/p>\n
