At our nursery, we are introducing SIMOA<\/strong>, our new safety elephant mascot<\/strong>, to help children learn about keeping themselves and others safe. SIMOA<\/strong> stands for Safety, Inspect, Monitor, Observe, Act<\/strong> \u2014 a child safety campaign designed to support early years staff, children, and parents in understanding how to prevent accidents and stay safe in different environments.<\/p>\n

Through fun, hands-on experiences, SIMOA will help children develop their awareness of safety as part of our Curriculum for Excellence Health and Wellbeing<\/strong> experiences and outcomes. The purple elephant will join the children on outings and in outdoor play, encouraging them to think about risks, make safe choices, and inspect their surroundings for potential dangers. Children may also bring home a SIMOA Helper<\/strong> sticker, which you can use to continue these important conversations at home \u2014 for example, talking about whether it\u2019s safe to run near a road. Together, we can help children build confidence, independence, and responsibility through meaningful learning about safety in everyday life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
