TeenTech is an award winning charity that was founded in 2008 by Maggie Philbin and Chris Dodson. They run programs that strive to give skills and experiences to teenagers to allow them to reach their full potential.<\/p>\n
TeenTech City of Tomorrow<\/strong><\/p>\n TeenTech City of Tomorrow was run recently at St Stephens and got young people to think about how they could better build a city for the future. Students were encouraged to think big and bold about how they could better design a city of tomorrow and they were given feedback from local and national employers. Students were shown how it can link into careers in engineering, construction and design.<\/p>\n The Young Stem Leader (YSL) program is a program that allows learners to gain an award for organising and running STEM events across the school. This allows learners to develop personal skills and organisation skills to increase their employability and promote STEM to their younger peers.<\/p>\n STEM leaders in St Stephens have been helping to run STEM events and run a weekly club in Science. This involves getting the YSLs to run the club for S1 and then log this as evidence so they can attain their YSL award. The YSL award is level 5 and count for SQA points so are shown on their certificate.<\/p>\n The Smallpeice Trust was set up by Dr. Cosby and is designed to give young people support to bring their ideas to life through STEM. They are a charity that send people out to schools to deliver workshops on STEM.<\/p>\n Recently S2 were involved in a day of learning about the principles of flight and then they designed and built their own glider.
