Primary 4/3

Literacy

This term we will be focussing on writing persuasive letters and           leaflets. We will learn to express our own opinion on topics and use our Talking and Listening skills to hold discussions with peers who have a different point of view. P4 will use notes to help them            structure the text and to ensure they convince the reader of their view point.

We will continue to explore a variety of books and work on our questioning skills and techniques.

Numeracy

This term we will be exploring Estimation and Rounding. The           children will develop ways of estimating the answer to a calculation or problem, work out the actual answer, then check my solution by comparing it with the estimate.

We will also be exploring Time. We will use a calendar and             timetables to learn about time in real life contexts. P3 will be able to identify and display the time using half past, quarter past and          quarter to using digital and analogue 12 hour clocks. P4 will use           analogue and digital clocks to tell the time using minutes past and minutes to. They will record 12 hour times using am and pm and identify 24hr notation in a real life context.

Inter-disciplinary

We will focus on Scotland, learning about Scottish History and         Robert Burns. In Science we will be exploring the properties and sources of materials and using the appropriate materials to carry out practical challenges. We will be able to predict before we             experiment and then explain and share our findings.

During this term we will continue to learn about the Beatitudes and also look into other world religions. P4 have started their journey towards the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Holy Communion. As a year group they will work together to learn about the sacraments and prepare for them.
