Term 3 is a very busy term for P2/1. We are learning to use our super reading skills to predict and ask questions about the stories we read. We will also be learning all about Sammy Summariser who helps us to summarise the main parts of a story. By working together we are learning how a sentence is built e.g. nouns, adjective etc. and using this new information in our daily writing.
As well as Bug Club we will also be reading the series ‘Hamish McHaggis’ by Linda Strachan. Hamish is our new friend who teaches us important facts about different towns and cities in Scotland.
We will continue learning about money in terms 3 by challenging ourselves to add larger amounts and give change. We will also be exploring fun ways to tell the time using digital and analogue clocks.
This term we will also be learning the importance of a healthy body and mind. We will investigate what foods are good for our growing bodies and different forms of exercise. During PE we will be concentrating mainly on gymnastic skills with a particular focus on balance and coordination.
We are very lucky this term to have a special visitor from Strathclyde University who will working with P2/1 for the next few months. Miss Ward is enjoying getting to know everyone and being a member of our St Michael’s family.
