{"id":16,"date":"2019-09-25T09:42:42","date_gmt":"2019-09-25T09:42:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/in\/stmarysps\/?page_id=16"},"modified":"2024-11-14T13:53:56","modified_gmt":"2024-11-14T13:53:56","slug":"parental-engagement","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/in\/stmarysps\/parental-engagement\/","title":{"rendered":"Parental Engagement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In St Mary\u2019s, we have a very active and supportive Parent Partnership.\u00a0 It aims to help parents to be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>involved with their child\u2019s education and learning<\/li>\n<li>welcomed as an active participant in the life of the school<\/li>\n<li>encouraged to express their views on school education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Parent Partnership Group meets regularly in the school to discuss school matters and plan activities for\u00a0our\u00a0children and their families.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the ways in which pupils have benefitted from their services include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gifts for each pupil receiving First Holy Communion and Confirmation<\/li>\n<li>A \u00a0shoe bag for each of our new entrants and a new school tie for each child moving on to secondary school.<\/li>\n<li>Treats at Hallowe\u2019en and Christmas parties<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As you can imagine, shopping for so many children costs a lot of money. Without parents\u2019 help, their fundraising would not be possible &#8211; thank you for your ongoing support with this! They are always looking for new volunteers to help \u2013 please consider coming along to meetings.<\/p>\n<p>At present, our Parent Partnership committee members are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chairperson \u2013 Mrs Henry<\/li>\n<li>Vice Chairperson\u2013 Miss Sheridan<\/li>\n<li>Treasurer \u2013 Mr Archibald<\/li>\n<li>Treasurer \u2013 Mrs McCorkindale<\/li>\n<li>Vice Treasurer \u2013 Mrs O&#8217;Brien<\/li>\n<li>Secretary\/Minute Taker \u2013 Mrs Dvorak<\/li>\n<li>Vice Secretary &#8211; Mrs McLennan<\/li>\n<li>Communications &#8211; Mrs Owens<\/li>\n<li>Parish Representative \u2013<\/li>\n<li>Staff Representatives &#8211; Mrs\u00a0Blincow and Mrs Macdonald.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When a vacancy occurs in the Parent partnership, nominations are invited from the Parent Forum. These nominations are considered at a Parent\u00a0Partnership Meeting and, if need be, a vote is taken.<\/p>\n<p>We\u00a0really appreciate\u00a0the support given by parent helpers\u00a0when we take the children on school trips.
