Getting it Right for our Children and Families<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Within St Francis Nursery Class, we understand the importance of parents being involved from the very beginning of their child\u2019s journey. Having a welcoming environment and approachable staff helps to build relationships from the first day the parents fill in their child\u2019s application forms to the day they continue their journey to school.<\/p>\n

We recognise and take in to account parents\u2019 circumstances in which they cannot always participate in the life of the nursery and we try to offer a variety of opportunities within the nursery day\/evening to ensure our families feel supported, included and listened to.<\/p>\n

All About Me booklets<\/p>\n

On the first day of enrolment, staff find out useful information about the child\u2019s likes and dislikes, health issues, allergies, dietary needs etc by asking parents to complete an \u201cAll About Me Booklet\u201d. Staff will use this information to ensure a smooth transition from home to nursery.<\/p>\n

Parent\u2019s meetings<\/p>\n

We have a flexible approach to meetings and identify times and methods to make it easier for parents to attend. We have two meetings a year in which parents can contribute to their child\u2019s learning and personal learning plans .Staff update plans whenever information is given to them.<\/p>\n

Stay and play sessions<\/p>\n

Throughout the year the children invite their parents to come and join them in their play. These sessions give parents the opportunity to learn more about their child\u2019s day and staff provide useful information with regards to this. The children are always excited to play and learn with their parents or extended family.<\/p>\n

Parents\u2019 views<\/p>\n

We actively encourage parents to provide feedback on all aspects of the nursery setting. We use questionnaires, parent\u2019s comments and views of children to help us identify strengths and identify areas for improvements in order to continue our commitment to improve outcomes for our children and families.<\/p>\n
