The staff within the 2-3 playroom value how our\u00a0young children play and\u00a0pride themselves in providing a warm, welcoming and nurturing environment.\u00a0 Following\u00a0 guidelines from Building the Ambition and Pre Birth to\u00a0Three, our children\u00a0participate in\u00a0fun learning experiences which promote independence skills, self help, creativity, curiosity and individuality.<\/p>\n

How our children achieve this:<\/p>\n

Curiosity, Inquiry and Creativity<\/strong>: Curiosity is the desire to learn about the world around them. Our children experience everyday activities such as outdoor play, sand, water, clay and paint, developing their interests.<\/p>\n

Discovery<\/strong>: Children learn best by doing\u00a0therefore discovery play allows children to learn about the world and how it works. Through discovery play our children are encouraged to take part in a variety of activities following on from their interests and discoveries.<\/p>\n

Book Bug<\/strong>: Through our daily book bug sessions our children and parents discover the benefits from sharing stories, songs and rhymes.\u00a0 Sharing stories with our children and parents has many benefits including supporting children’s language, learning and social skills.<\/p>\n

Schematic Play<\/strong>: Schematic play is play that children are compelled to do. They are patterns of repeat behaviours which allow children to explore and express developing thoughts and ideas through play. Staff are trained in this area of learning and provide a variety of activities for children to explore these schemas through their play.<\/p>\n

Learning Outdoors<\/strong>: When children are given unhurried time in an outdoor environments, their learning can have a deeper meaning and create long lasting memories. Children thrive in increased freedom and space. Children engage their senses as they feel the wind in their face, opportunities to splash in puddles and engage with loose part materials.<\/p>\n
