The next Parent Council Meeting will be held on\u00a0 Tuesday 24th<\/sup> May at 7.00<\/h3>\n

The meeting will be held in the school building.<\/h3>\n

What\u2019s the Parent Council for?<\/h3>\n

We are a group of parents with children at Port Glasgow High School. Parent Councils replaced school boards in 2007.<\/p>\n

We have four aims:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Support the school
\n\u2022 Represent the views of parents
\n\u2022 Promote contact between school and home
\n\u2022 Report to the parent forum (that means parents or guardians of all the school\u2019s pupils)<\/p>\n

We also have these opportunities:<\/p>\n

\u2022 to receive information and advice on matters which affect our children\u2019s education.
\n\u2022 to influence decisions are being taken on education provided by the school.
\n\u2022 to take part in the recruitment process for appointing the head and deputy head teachers of the school<\/p>\n

What does the Parent Council do?<\/h5>\n

We meet up regularly (about once a month in term time). The head teacher has a duty and a right to be at (or be represented at) all our meetings. The chair person by law has to be the parent of a child in the school.
\nThe Parent Council has in the past worked closely with the Friends of Port Glasgow High School to run fundraising events, such as quiz nights, information events and fun days.<\/p>\n

We attend parents evenings to help gather parents views.
\nWe provide the school with feedback on the information it sends to parents.
\n\u2026 and much more.<\/p>\n
