Health and Wellbeing is also seen as a \u2018Responsibility of All\u2019. add text]<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Qualifications<\/h2>\n<h1>Mental Health and Wellbeing Award at SCQF levels 4 and 5<\/h1>\n<p>The Awards in Mental Health and Wellbeing at SCQF levels 4 and 5 aim to:<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sqa.org.uk\/sqa\/sqa\/images\/MentalHealthWellbeing.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>reduce stigma surrounding mental health<\/li>\n<li>arm young people with healthy coping strategies<\/li>\n<li>promote knowledge of the impact of mental health on behaviour<\/li>\n<li>dispel myths surrounding mental health<\/li>\n<li>promote understanding of positive and negative impacts on mental health<\/li>\n<li>help individuals to make the right choices<\/li>\n<li>promote understanding of the potential uses and impact of social media and the internet<\/li>\n<li>create resilience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sqa.org.uk\/sqa\/83453.html\">Course Overview<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>National Progression Award in Horticulture at SCQF level 4<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>National Progression Awards (NPAs) assess a defined set of skills and knowledge in specialist vocational areas, linked to National Occupational Standards.<\/p>\n<p>The NPA in Horticulture at SCQF level 4 introduces learners to techniques that are important in the horticulture sector and covers areas such as allotment gardening and plant propagation.<\/p>\n<p>It develops: knowledge and understanding of horticulture; practical, technical and transferable skills; oral, written and evaluation abilities; resource management; problem solving and planning; and organisational and communication skills.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sqa.org.uk\/sqa\/76604.html\">Course Overview<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Peer Education<\/h2>\n<p><strong>S6 Mental Health Ambassadors<\/strong><br \/>\nPeer Education training for S5 and 6 pupils to become\u00a0Mental Health Ambassadors. This has been very successful in London and other parts of England and we are excited to be offering this Mental Health Foundation opportunity at PGHS .<br \/>\nThe training helps inform young people about mental health and how to support others. New\u00a0Mental health Ambassadors\u00a0then teach 5 lessons to S1 pupils. As well as building confidence and leadership this will also build up community hours, give pupils wider achievement accreditation and is a fantastic attribute to put on a CV or UCAS\/college application.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pep.mentalhealth.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mental Health Foundation Peer Education Project Overview<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mentors in Violence Prevention<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Peer mentors are at the heart of the MVP programme.<\/p>\n<p>The mentor training involves mentors considering a number of scenarios that young people may come across in school. These include, among others \u2013<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>possible bullying in the corridor<\/li>\n<li>inappropriate photos on a phone<\/li>\n<li>hearing insults<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mentors consider whether a bystander should intervene and, if so, what the possible consequences of different actions may be. Mentors are trained to elicit responses from the young people they are working with. Over the period of a school session, mentors will deliver around 4 lessons to each of their classes.
