The strategic aim of Inverclyde\u2019s approach is \u2018<\/span><b><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">to change pedagogical practice to one that empowers children to become active participants in their learning<\/span><\/i><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">.\u2019\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">To achieve this, play pedagogy has been a priority in the Education Service Improvement Plan and in School Improvement Plans since 2021. A play pedagogy implementation team that included a project manager and two full-time Coaching and Modelling Officers for the first two years of the project, (now known as #PlayInverclyde), developed a plan and training programme to drive this forward.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Schools were each gifted a set of wooden blocks for P1 and a selection of play-related literature to support initial implementation. Each school was also given a \u2018play budget\u2019 in year 1 and year 2 with an accompanying suggested resource list. CMOs supported schools in ordering resources and zoning spaces to accommodate play pedagogy.
