There are lots of different strategies which can be used to reach the answer to a problem and we support our learners in exploring which methods are the most effective for them.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800000\">SEAL<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stages of Early Arithmetical Learning (SEAL) is a framework for Numeracy which we use to help children explore number.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800000\">Numeracy Blueprint Boards<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We use this versatile resource to help our learners engage with number.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800000\">Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Learners move through these stages as they develop their understanding of a concept, this approach is used at all levels of the nursery and school.<\/p>\n<p>Concrete &#8211; the doing stage. Real life objects are used to help children. In the concrete stage, children develop understanding of mathematical concepts with real life materials.<\/p>\n<p>Pictorial &#8211; the seeing stage. In this stage, the teacher may use drawing pictures; using circles, dots, and tallies; or using stamps to represent concrete materials.<\/p>\n<p>Abstract &#8211; the symbolic stage.
