Through language our pupils gain much of their knowledge and many of their skills across the curriculum. The four main components of language are:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Talking<\/strong><strong> , Listening , Reading, and Writing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From Primary 1 children are encouraged to develop their skills in talking and to articulate their learning.<\/p>\n<p>At the early stages of reading we are using the North Lanarkshire programme of Active Literacy.<\/p>\n<p>At the early stages of writing we build on drawing and scribing sentences and introduce punctuation, vocabulary, sentence construction as the children progress.<\/p>\n<p>We encourage children to develop a <strong>legible, fast, cursive style of handwriting. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As part of the Scottish Government\u2019s 1+2 Languages Programme<strong>, French <\/strong>is taught throughout the school.<\/p>\n<p>Teachers use many approaches including active learning, games, songs, role play and interactive whiteboard software to create relevant, coherent, enjoyable and successful learning experiences.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/education.gov.scot\/scottish-education-system\/policy-for-scottish-education\/policy-drivers\/cfe-(building-from-the-statement-appendix-incl-btc1-5)\/What%20is%20Curriculum%20for%20Excellence?\">Link to Curriculum for Excellence Information<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Article 28\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Every child has the right to an education.
