The programme supports the\u202fempowered system\u202fand also&nbsp;the\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.org.uk\/what-we-do\/un-convention-child-rights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (articles 12 and 13)<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At King\u2019s Oak&nbsp;Primary,\u202f the&nbsp;Young Leaders of Learning programme&nbsp;has \u202fhelped&nbsp;children from P5 and 6 to be more actively involved in helping to improve King\u2019s&nbsp;Oak \u202fby:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Creating a new school library for the whole school to use in the ICT suite.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ensured that all libraries in the school are welcoming and accessible to all children.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Planning events to foster a culture of reading for enjoyment within the school.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Leading different competitions throughout the school year to promote reading for enjoyment.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Working towards set criteria to become a \u201cReading School\u201d.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Presently, the committee is made up of eight children from P5 and 6 and is supported by Mrs Crerar.
