The Act recognises the vital role that parents play in supporting their children’s learning. It places a duty on authorities to promote the involvement of parents in children’s education and the wider life of the school and aims to help parents be:

Involved with their child’s education and learning

Welcomed as an active participant in the life of the school

Encouraged to express their views on school education generally

Our Parent Group is a hugely valued part of life at Inverkip Primary School and Nursery Class. Working in partnership with the school, they help to create the experiences and opportunities that make our school community so special.

From organising fantastic events and family activities to fundraising for additional resources, experiences and improvements, the group makes a real and visible difference for our children. Their support has helped fund everything from our Christmas pantomime and playground improvements to Primary 1 ties and the costs of PVG checks for parent volunteers. They also organise much-loved events including our Glow Disco, World Book Day competition, Summer Funday and P7 Leavers’ Ceilidh.

Our parents and carers contribute in many other ways too. We are fortunate to have a growing group of PVG volunteers across both our school and nursery, supporting activities, trips, events and learning opportunities throughout the year.

There is no expectation that joining the Parent Group means committing to everything! Whether you can attend meetings, help at an occasional event, support fundraising, volunteer in school or simply contribute an idea, every bit of involvement is appreciated.

Everyone is welcome to get involved. Together, our families, staff and wider community help us provide even more opportunities for our children – and make Inverkip an even better place to learn, grow and belong.

At Inverkip Primary School we have a proactive and supportive Parent Council.
