Our emergency procedures are designed to ensure a calm, coordinated response to any incident while keeping families fully informed as soon as it is safe and practicable to do so.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"702\" data-end=\"731\"><strong data-start=\"706\" data-end=\"731\">Evacuation Procedures<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"732\" data-end=\"860\">If the school or nursery needs to be evacuated, pupils and staff will move safely to one of our designated evacuation locations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"864\" data-end=\"942\"><strong data-start=\"864\" data-end=\"893\">Primary Evacuation Point: <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">The Inverkip Hub (Inverkip Community Centre)<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"945\" data-end=\"1014\"><strong data-start=\"945\" data-end=\"982\">Secondary Location (if required): <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Inverkip Parish Church Hall<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1016\" data-end=\"1197\">These sites are approved as evacuation premises for short-term relocation and ensure pupils can be safely supervised away from the school site<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1199\" data-end=\"1226\"><strong data-start=\"1203\" data-end=\"1226\">Lockdown Procedures<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 data-start=\"1199\" data-end=\"1226\">In situations where it is safer to keep pupils inside the building, we may activate a <strong data-start=\"1313\" data-end=\"1324\">partial<\/strong> or <strong data-start=\"1328\" data-end=\"1345\">full lockdown<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1350\" data-end=\"1425\">A <strong data-start=\"1352\" data-end=\"1372\">partial lockdown<\/strong> keeps everyone inside with external doors secured.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1428\" data-end=\"1533\">A <strong data-start=\"1430\" data-end=\"1447\">full lockdown<\/strong> is used when there is an immediate threat and rooms must be secured and appear empty.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1535\" data-end=\"1721\">Staff are trained to follow the procedures outlined in our Emergency Management Procedure, including the use of internal alert codes.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1723\" data-end=\"1847\">During any lockdown, pupils <strong data-start=\"1751\" data-end=\"1775\">will not be released<\/strong> until emergency services or the Senior Leadership Team declare it safe.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1849\" data-end=\"1892\"><strong data-start=\"1853\" data-end=\"1892\">Communication with Parents &amp; Carers<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1893\" data-end=\"2151\">During an emergency, we will contact parents as soon as it is practical and safe to do so. Parents will be given clear information to help them understand the situation and what to expect next. To support a calm and safe response, we kindly ask that parents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"2155\" data-end=\"2252\"><strong data-start=\"2155\" data-end=\"2182\">Do not phone the school<\/strong>, as this may block essential communication with emergency services.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2255\" data-end=\"2380\"><strong data-start=\"2255\" data-end=\"2284\">Do not come to the school<\/strong> unless specifically instructed, as this can hinder emergency access and place others at risk.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2383\" data-end=\"2463\"><strong data-start=\"2383\" data-end=\"2408\">Wait for instructions<\/strong> about when and where it is safe to collect children.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2465\" data-end=\"2541\">Updates will be issued through our usual channels once the situation allows.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2543\" data-end=\"2617\"><strong data-start=\"2547\" data-end=\"2615\">School Closure and Disruption (Heating, Water, Power or Weather)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2618\" data-end=\"2937\">In some cases, the school may need to close or partially close due to an unexpected loss of heating, water supply, or power or due to adverse weather conditions. These situations are covered within our Business Continuity Plan and may affect our ability to operate safely.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2939\" data-end=\"3003\">In the event of <strong data-start=\"2955\" data-end=\"2973\">severe weather<\/strong>, decisions take into account:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"3007\" data-end=\"3059\">Road and pavement safety for children and families<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3062\" data-end=\"3139\">Staff ability to travel safely (many staff commute from outwith Inverclyde)<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3142\" data-end=\"3195\">Conditions around the school site and access points<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"3197\" data-end=\"3332\"><strong data-start=\"3197\" data-end=\"3314\">Parents should always check official channels before sending children to school or nursery during severe weather.<\/strong><br data-start=\"3314\" data-end=\"3317\" \/>Please monitor:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"3336\" data-end=\"3417\"><strong data-start=\"3336\" data-end=\"3366\">Inverclyde Council Website<\/strong> \u2013 for local authority updates on school closures<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3420\" data-end=\"3504\"><strong data-start=\"3420\" data-end=\"3458\">Inverkip Primary Twitter\/X Account<\/strong> \u2013 for real-time school-specific information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"3506\" data-end=\"3642\">If the school must close, early notifications will be issued through our school messaging email system and social media.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Emergency Procedures at Inverkip Primary &amp; Nursery At Inverkip Primary &amp; Nursery, the safety and wellbeing of our pupils, staff and families is always our highest priority.
