We are seeking to nurture, promote and raise the awareness and status of the Gaelic language and culture across Inverclyde.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005, places a responsibility on public authorities to support Gaelic through the development and implementation of a Gaelic Language Plan. Please click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inverclyde.gov.uk\/council-and-government\/strategies-policies-and-plans\/inverclyde-gaelic-language-plan\/draft-inverclyde-gaelic-language-plan-2022-27\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a> to find out more, and to read the current Inverclyde Council Gaelic Language Plan.<\/p>\n<p>The Scottish Government\u2019s policy,\u00a0Language Learning in Scotland: A 1+2 Approach, is aimed at ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn a modern language from P1 onwards and should have the right to learn a second modern language from P5 onwards. This site provides a means to deliver Gaelic as part of the 1+2 approach for those in Inverclyde.<\/p>\n<p>Teaching Gaelic as a +2 language will allow pupils to learn some common phrases in one of Scotland&#8217;s national languages, as well as helping developing an understanding of the history and culture of Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>This resource has been designed around different contexts for learning within second level of Curriculum for Excellence. Aspects of social studies and literacy are covered through different topic based approaches. There are also discreet Gaelic language resources, and a number of support materials.
