The term Additional Support Needs applies to\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 children who, for whatever reason, require extra support, long or short term, in order to allow them to fully access the curriculum. \nThis includes consideration given to children who:-
\n\u2022 have a disability,
\n\u2022 have social, emotional and behavioral difficulties,
\n\u2022 have learning difficulties of a specific or general nature,
\n\u2022 are exceptionally able,
\n\u2022 demonstrate under achievement relating to gender issues
\n\u2022 have had their learning interrupted through absence or illness
\n\u2022 have English as an additional language,
\n\u2022 have family circumstances that have an impact on attendance and learning.<\/strong><\/p>\n
\nIn order to help staff meet children\u2019s Additional Support Needs, a Staged Assessment & Intervention process has been developed. In many instances the children will be supported in the playroom by the nursery staff.<\/strong><\/p>\n
\nFor some children partner agencies may be asked to offer support where necessary.<\/strong><\/p>\n
\nIf your child experiences difficulties in learning that you are\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 concerned about, this can be shared and discussed with the key worker or a member of the management team.<\/strong><\/p>\n
