The Early Years Framework states that:<\/p>\n<p><i>\u2018It is during our very earliest years and even pre-birth that a large part of the pattern of our future adult life is set.\u2019 (Scottish Government, 2008).<\/i><\/p>\n<p>In the Smillie Room our staff\u00a0 use Developmental Milestones\u00a0 to plan for children&#8217;s individual needs and take into consideration their stage of development, likes &amp; dislikes, children&#8217;s interests and how they like to learn.<\/p>\n<p>The Developmental Milestones were developed using a range of guidance including: Realising the Ambition and Argyll and Bute Developmental Milestones. The milestones are split into 4 areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wellbeing<\/li>\n<li>Curiosity, Inquiry and Creativity<\/li>\n<li>Communication &amp; Early Literacy<\/li>\n<li>Physical Development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our staff work in partnership with parents\/carers, and any other agencies involved, to ensure a consistent, collaborative approach to the learning and development of our youngest children.<\/p>\n<p>We believe that young children need to feel safe and secure before they are ready to learn and develop.
