Hi! My name is Lily\u00a0Bryceland\u00a0and\u00a0I\u00a0am the head girl at\u00a0Clydeview\u00a0Academy. I am so honored to be given this\u00a0role,\u00a0and\u00a0I\u00a0cannot wait to contribute to the amazing school\u00a0that\u00a0Clydeview\u00a0Academy\u00a0already\u00a0is. It is\u00a0also\u00a0extremely\u00a0exciting to work\u00a0alongside\u00a0my peers in\u00a0the pupil\u00a0leadership team, as we are all\u00a0eager\u00a0to bring\u00a0our\u00a0new\u00a0ideas\u00a0to life.\u00a0I hope\u00a0that\u00a0the 2026-2027 school year is going to be full of memories,\u00a0collaboration,\u00a0and fun, as this is\u00a0what\u00a0Clydeview\u00a0is all about.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n When I first walked through the school gates in S1, I knew that\u00a0Clydeview\u00a0was going to be a\u00a0school\u00a0full of opportunities. The\u00a0Clydeview\u00a0school values, paired with the support\u00a0from\u00a0the\u00a0amazing\u00a0teachers,\u00a0has\u00a0enabled\u00a0me to flourish and grow, while building life-lasting\u00a0relationships with my peers.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n For as long as I can remember, I have always been involved in school life. Whether that was asking questions in class (sometimes too many questions!), becoming a period Ambassador, or taking part in the Bereavement Group, I have always been eager to get involved and make the most of every opportunity\u00a0Clydeview\u00a0has given me.\u00a0These experiences have\u00a0helped me develop my confidence,\u00a0communication\u00a0and leadership skills, which I am excited to put into practice as Head Girl.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In my spare time, I volunteer at my local foodbank, which has given me a greater understanding of inequality and strengthened my\u00a0passion for\u00a0social justice. Working with people from a variety of backgrounds has developed my empathy and understanding, while reminding me about the importance of listening and supporting others.\u00a0\u00a0These are qualities that I\u00a0want to\u00a0carry with me into my role as Head Girl. I want to\u00a0ensure\u00a0that I\u00a0represent\u00a0and support all members of our school community.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This year, I hope to encourage greater work experience opportunities for pupils across the\u00a0school,\u00a0by working\u00a0alongside\u00a0the\u00a0current\u00a0support networks within\u00a0Clydeview. I am incredibly grateful to have secured a placement within a law firm, which has given me valuable insight into the profession. It has\u00a0confirmed\u00a0that law is the pathway I would like to pursue. I want as many pupils as possible to have the same opportunity to explore their interests and gain an understanding of the world of work.\u00a0I would love to make the daunting feeling of life outside\u00a0school\u00a0less scary!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I\u00a0cant\u00a0believe that this is my last year at\u00a0Clydeview\u00a0Academy, it already feels so emotional!\u00a0As\u00a0head\u00a0girl,\u00a0I want to make a long-lasting impact on the school. I am extremely grateful to have\u00a0been given\u00a0this opportunity, and I cannot wait to begin working alongside the Head Girl, the Depute Head Boy and Girl, and the wider Clydeview Academy community of staff and pupils.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Since joining Clydeview at the beginning of S1, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the school and have made the most of everything it has to offer. Throughout these years, I have developed invaluable skills that have helped me grow both within and outside of the school gates. One of the biggest parts of this has been my journey in American Football, where I have embraced school values such as Ambition and Determination in my pursuit of success, going on to\u00a0represent\u00a0both Scotland and Great Britain at international level. Within the school, I can often\u00a0be found\u00a0in the Humanities Department, and I have recently become a\u00a0Humanities\u00a0Ambassador. Through these experiences, I have developed many crucial skills, particularly in leadership,\u00a0teamwork\u00a0and determination, which I hope to bring into my role as Head Boy and use to help make Clydeview an enjoyable and welcoming place for everyone.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n During the upcoming year, it is one of my main goals to\u00a0reinstate\u00a0the Pupil Council.\u00a0I believe a strong and consistent pupil voice\u00a0is imperative to the success of the school\u00a0and extremely important in\u00a0making sure every student\u00a0is heard\u00a0and valued.\u00a0As Head Boy it is my\u00a0responsibility\u00a0to make sure every student feels represented,\u00a0which is what I will continue to\u00a0work on\u00a0not just throughout my time of being Head Boy but to help the future leaders of the school\u00a0to do so as well.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Clydeview Academy is an amazing school to be a part of, and\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0very grateful\u00a0to have this opportunity to contribute to its continued development. I am\u00a0very\u00a0grateful\u00a0to have been given this opportunity, and I am really looking forward\u00a0to\u00a0working with the rest of the Senior Leadership Team\u00a0this year.\u00a0I cannot\u00a0believe that this is my last year\u00a0at\u00a0Clydeview, but I am\u00a0ready\u00a0to make the most of every\u00a0moment and\u00a0make\u00a0it\u00a0the best year yet!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Leadership has always been a passion of mine, and I am lucky enough to have\u00a0had the opportunity to take on many leadership roles\u00a0throughout my time at Clydeview, such as being\u00a0netball team captain and an MVP.\u00a0Having achieved\u00a0a great set\u00a0of Higher exam results, I am aware\u00a0that\u00a0exam season can be stressful.\u00a0However,\u00a0I have learned that\u00a0maintaining\u00a0a balance\u00a0is\u00a0essential\u00a0to avoid burnout.\u00a0I\u00a0found\u00a0that\u00a0by\u00a0taking time away from\u00a0my\u00a0academics to do\u00a0the\u00a0things\u00a0I\u00a0enjoyed\u00a0was\u00a0the\u00a0key\u00a0to\u00a0attaining\u00a0my\u00a0great set\u00a0of\u00a0Higher results.\u00a0This included taking regular walks\u00a0outside, going to the gym or\u00a0spending time with my friends\/family.\u00a0Throughout\u00a0my time as Deputy Head\u00a0Girl,\u00a0I hope to remind students to take care of themselves\u00a0and be a friendly face who everyone feels that they can talk to for advice.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Clydeview is a place where I\u00a0both learn and have fun. My school experience has taught me the importance of working hard\u00a0and\u00a0always giving your best effort. This leads onto why resilience, determination and ambition are my\u00a0favourite school values\u00a0to foster.\u00a0I hope that as Deputy Head girl,\u00a0I can be a support network for other pupils,\u00a0aiming to encourage\u00a0everyone to<\/span>\u00a0recognise all their achievements, whether big or small,\u00a0academic,\u00a0or not.
