COVID – 19: Remote Learning update
Our staff are committed to supporting you at home and have set up Teams to keep in touch on a daily basis. On Teams you will find uploaded files that can support home learning and feedback on the work you are completing and sending in for review. Please also remember to visit the SQA Art & Design page to complete the evaluation templates for your practical portfolios and to complete past papers to supplement your prelim and classwork completed to date. Please follow this link to SQA https://www.sqa.org.uk/sqa/47892.html
Our Higher Art and Design courses offer students the opportunity to develop Expressive and Design folios. Students are encouraged to explore new materials and techniques and undertake a number of planned visits to events and workshops outwith the classroom setting to develop specialist skills and see how Art and Design fits in to the world around us.
A course calendar for the Expressive folio and assessment date calendar can be viewed on the link below. This will enable students to ensure deadlines can be met and keep parents informed of the learning taking place in class.

A recent trip to Cove Park in Cove enabled our students to work with artist Lotte Gertz who led printmaking workshop activities throughout the day. Students enjoyed creating mono prints and repeat prints through a fun and experimental approach to new materials and processes. The finished prints showed a fantastic range of techniques and will be used as a starting point for the pupils design folios.
Fashion at the Museum
Higher Art and Design students will have the opportunity to visit the National Museum in Edinburgh this year following the success of last years ‘Fashion at the Museum’ event.
Students will be travelling to Edinburgh in December to take part in a number of fashion based workshops to develop their understanding of fashion design. Last years students enjoyed participating in fashion photography shoots, fashion history lectures, fashion illustration and pattern making workshops. The workshops were delivered by practicing professionals who gave our students a fantastic insight in to the world of fashion and highlighted the roles and opportunities that could be followed.
