Welcome to the Business Studies Department of Clydeview Academy.
Update Sunday 22 March 2020
S4-S6 Pupils please note that updated guidance from the Scottish Government today instructs that NO pupils should come into school to complete SQA coursework. Therefore the session on Monday 23 March is CANCELLED. Please do not come into the department. We will post further information on our Twitter page @ClydeviewB and in your Glow Team when we get it.
The need for certain pupils to e-mail in their coursework still stands and this should be completed by 10 am on Monday, as previously requested.
S6 SQA Leadership students should check the Glow Teams account for more details on their qualification.
You can e-mail me at email@example.com if you need more information. Stay safe. Mrs MacMillan
Message to all our 2019-20 students. (18 March 2020)
The situation we face after today’s announcement of UK-wide school closures is one which we could have never predicted even a few weeks ago. The Department staff are working hard to support your learning despite this major upheaval. Our hearts are heavy for all our students who have worked so hard this year and who face such uncertain times. Currently the situation is very fluid and our main aim for S4-S6 classes is to submit coursework and to get through as many units as is possible.
As you know within Business Studies we were already in a good position with Glow Teams established and running for all our classes. Please use this to keep in contact with your class teacher – we will be posting tasks for you to do and also giving advice and support via Glow e-mail. As advised on our Twitter account @ClydeviewB, we recommend that you create a Glow password recovery e-mail in case you are unable to log in.
For our S2-S3 classes, we have launched the Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award in conjunction with our colleagues in the Computing Department. Pupils have created an account and are now working towards their Bronze Badges. More information can be found in class Glow Teams but we are really excited about the opportunities this brings to combine learning with employability skills. If you were absent when this imitative was launched, please contact your class teacher via Glow e-mail for more details. We look forward to seeing many of you achieve your Bronze or even Silver Award before the end of term! Why not discipline yourself to work towards some badges when you would normally be in one of our lessons – your teacher may even be on-line at that time to cheer you on.
Below are a number of useful website to which you can use to further increase your knowledge and skills within our subjects. Glow Teams, however, will remain the main source of reference and resources. Keep in touch!

So why study business? Business courses have and remain to be one of the most popular course options for students who go on to further study at University or College. Whether it is developing your numeracy skills through the study of accounting, improving your digital skills with Administration & IT or increasing your awareness of global commerce with Business Management, there is sure to be an option that suits you!
We make use of a variety of digital technology to help support our students and to increase their awareness of the dynamic UK and global business environment that will soon be an active part of.
We make extensive use of GLOW Teams, especially in the senior school, to work collaboratively and to make resources accessible outwith the classroom.
The department makes use of Twitter to help direct senior students to relevant business articles. Extra reading will ensure that they are up-to-date with real-life company examples to back-up theory answers in an exam situation.
