SUBJECTS
The Technical Department offers a number of wide and varied courses which caters for students from S1 to S6.
BGE S1-S3 courses are aimed at giving our young learners the best experience of our subjects. Within S1 and S2 the pupils use a variety of material to produce different models in Manufacture. In Graphics they gain knowledge in Technical drawing, various sketching techniques and experience computer Graphics with DTP and Computer Aided Design. In S3 students will build on the skills and experiences gained within the first 2 years and will specialise in either Design and Manufacture, Graphic Communication or Practical Woodwork
Design and Manufacture is an exciting subject that offers an experience which is both creative and technological. This is achieved through the process of planning, designing and making and involves pupils in all aspects of problem solving.
Graphic Communication looks at the different techniques involved in creating graphics. These include sketching, rendering, formal drawing, graphs and charts, architectural drawing as well as studying computer aided drawing.
Practical Woodwork provides the opportunity for pupils to build on their skills of using hand tools and machinery in the production of wooden models.
Practical Metalwork is an ideal opportunity for pupils to have a gateway to Engineering. Building on their knowledge of metalwork tools and machinery to produce a variety of models.
