In the  Technical department in S1 and S2 you will visit the department twice a week. One period is for the Practical workshop and the other is for Graphics / Design.

Some of the models that students can expect to manufacture in S1 can be seen above.

 

In S2 the students continue to build on the practical skills developed in S1 with a greater focus on designing their own items.

Within the S1 Technical practical course the following models will be manufactured-

• Aluminium paint guard
• Garden trowel
• Acrylic ice scraper
• Acrylic photo frame
• Wooden box
• Acrylic key ring

Within the S2 Technical practical course the following models will be manufactured –

• Candle holder (with full design folio)
• Memo board
• Desk tidy

During the graphic element of the course S1 will complete the following topics –

• Measuring and accuracy
• Orthographic drawing (freehand and formal)
• Desk Top Publishing (DTP) magazine front cover
• Isometric drawing (freehand and formal)
• Computer Aided Design (CAD) 3D modelling

During the graphic element of the course S2 will complete the following topics –

• Freehand sketching (isometric and perspective)
• CAD 3D modelling with environments
• Balloon car model challenge
• Colour theory
• DTP (cupcake box)
