P4 Heritage Walk

Primary 4 went on a Heritage Walk around Newark Castle.  They were taken back in time and met a fisherman from the past who told them that the Clyde used to be called the Clutha.  He told them about all the boats that got built around the area.

They also met Lady Margaret Crawford, Sir Patrick Maxwell’s wife.  She lived in Newark Castle with her husband.  He attacked her with a sword and kept her locked in her chamber for 6 months, living only on bread and water.

After 44 years of marriage and 16 children, she finally fled across the Clyde to Dumbarton, where she died.  Sir Patrick was never called to account for his actions.
