Maps for Writing

Today we looked at maps that authors place at the beginning of their books to give the reader a better understanding of the story.
Here is the map of Hundred Acre Wood from Winnie the Pooh.

In our writing tomorrow we are going to create our Halloween based map showing where Hobgoblin Supplies are.

For homework think of three places you will have on your map and write them on the Blog.

Today we walked to Eden Court to see the film “Wadjda.”

“Wadjda is a 10-year-old girl living in a suburb of Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Although she lives in a conservative world, Wadjda is fun-loving girl who always pushes the boundaries of what she can get away with. After a fight with her friend Abdullah, a neighborhood boy she shouldn’t be playing with, Wadjda sees a beautiful green bicycle for sale. She wants the bicycle desperately so that she can beat Abdullah in a race. But Wadjda’s mother won’t allow it, so Wadjda decides to try and raise the money herself.”

We thoroughly enjoyed the film and will be discussing some of the issues that emerged tomorrow.

Hello everyone!

Just a quick reminder to all of my French class…please remember your swimming gear on Monday as we are off to the Aquadome for our first swimming session. We will be going every monday morning up until the christmas break; including the first monday back in January. Looking forward to it!

Can’t believe holidays are over. Everyone is back and ready to work hard this term.

Today we were looking at “puns ” in preparation for our writing tomorrow. For homework we would like you to write a pun about what you would like to be when you grow up like the ones we looked at in class. Remember a pun is the use of a word or words that either have multiple meanings or sound like other words, the result of which is humorous.

eg When I grow up I want to be a doctor, but I might not have the patients!!!

Have a wonderful holiday!

What a fabulous first term we have had! Have a look back through this blog to see all that we have covered…you’ll be amazed!

Congratulations to our Cross Country Runners! They did us proud at the competition.

Whilst you guys were slogging your way round the track, we were standing in the pouring rain dropping eggs from a great height… ye do!

Here are some pictures of the eggciting competition itself. champions.

Fabulous Forces!

We are sad to say that our wonderful project is nearly over.

BUT we still have to drop these eggies!!! Don’t forget your wet weather clothing….. just in case.

OK Blog Heads ….write a sentence about one of the experiments we carried out in class.
