Fame – Fortune!

Just a quick reminder that we’re at Eden Court tomorrow for Scottish Opera. We’re leaving school around 11.45am. Please make sure you’ve got a packed lunch with you.

We’re famous – after our FANTASTIC video that we made last week for our friends in New Zealand – as you can see from the post on Friday, many people from their school have commented on our video. The link that we’ve established with Melville Intermediate School is excellent – a brilliant way to learn about different cultures. They’ve written about us on their blog; some other schools have commented saying what excellent ambassadors you are for Scotland. Check out their blog:

As part of our writing this week, we’re learning how to write an artist’s résumé – using humour. These are going to be ‘showcased’ at our garden party, along with our artwork. For homework for tomorrow, you have three tasks:

1. Choose a “posh” name
2. Select an “interesting experience” you’ve had as an artist – the more exaggerated the better
3. Give an “interesting fact” about yourself – this can be a white lie

Many of you have posted this on the blog already (we’re loving the suggestions so far) – it should be posted on the blog by tomorrow, ready for writing!

See you in the morning,
Count Cook, Madame MacLeod and Princess Prentice

What’s your favourite fairytale?

Firstly, well done to Mackenzie B (P7) – who was awarded the sportsmanship award for all of the boys within the area school group today, whilst playing in the Football Festival at the Aquadome. This is an excellent event for the P7 pupils to get to know one another a bit better, before going to the IRA in August.

Fairytales

This morning, we began looking at the structure of a fairytale. We managed to summarise the structure of both Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel, by using the 5 basic principles: characters, setting, complication, resolution and ending.

Your homework for tonight:

– Choose a fairytale which you know the story of, and are able to give information on the 5 basic principles. You can write this down if you need a reminder – we will be using it in our writing plan  tomorrow.

See you in the morning,
Mr.Cook, Mrs.MacLeod and Mrs.Prentice

Manic Monday!

The title to this post definitely describes the type of day P6/7 had. It was ‘GO GO GO’ all the way through to 3pm.

The leaderboard for the decimals game has been reset this morning. Try and get P6/7 up to number one this week by clicking the link below:

Mr Cook’s register class watched part of ‘Horrible Histories’ this morning whilst the other two register classes finished evaluating the Weather Reports.

Your questions is: Who were the suffragettes, and what did they do? Post your answers on the blog.

In preparation for our writing on Wednesday, we continued to UP LEVEL sentences. We did this by using adjectives, adverbs, prepositional phrases and clauses. We’ll continue to work on this tomorrow.
