This month, we have finally managed to collect most of the outstanding sponsor money, and the total raised is £13499.25. This is a magnificent effort and we would like to thank everyone who contributed in any way. We have taken delivery of a new minibus this month; without the funds from sponsored walks over the years, we would not have been able to do this.

The class which raised most, 1S2, enjoyed an afternoon out at Rollerbowl as a reward for their efforts. In addition, we held a prize draw for those who returned their sponsor money on time; one lucky winner from each year group was awarded a £10 gift token as a sign of our appreciation.

Pupils who still have not returned their sponsor money should do so next week; we have sent letters home to parents this week, notifying them that we believe their child has yet to pay the money owed, and we would ask that if your child falls into this category, you try to ensure that they bring the money as soon as possible.

Christmas events

We would like to remind all pupils, parents and friends of two events coming up in the next couple of weeks.

On Wednesday 4 December we are holding our winter fayre. This will be in the PE department, and will feature a number of stalls, including Hobbycraft, Atmosphere Homes and Judith Glue. The event runs from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. There will be live music and refreshments – all included in the £2 entry fee (concessions £1).

On Thursday 12 December, the music department is presenting an evening of Christmas music in the school theatre. Tickets cost £5 for adults and £2 for those under 18. The concert starts at 7:30 pm.

We hope to see you at one or both of these events.

New school – latest news

A full planning application was submitted to Highland Council at the end of last week. We are still very much on track for work to start on the site in late June or early July next year.

The next step for us will be detailed consultation on the layout of the rooms; this process will start soon.

All pupils will be given a copy of the latest newsletter connected to the project; you can view a copy here.

Christmas Dances

Nov 282013

Tickets for the Christmas dances go on sale on Monday next week; they will be sold for one week only (2 December to 6 December), between 13:10 and 13:30, in Room 6. Tickets are priced at £4 each for S1/2 and S3/4, with tickets for the senior ball priced at £10.

The dances will be held in the last week of term, as follows:

Monday 16 December – S1/2 – from 19:30 to 22:00

Tuesday 17 December – S3/4 – from 19:30 to 22:30

Thursday 19 December – S5/6 – from 19:00 to 22:30

We would ask that parents collecting their child from a dance try to be here when the dance finishes. In recent years we have found that, after almost every dance, a few pupils are left waiting for their transport to arrive, resulting in some very cold pupils (not to mention the teacher who waits with them!). We thank you for your support in making sure that everyone gets home safely.

Prelims for S4 pupils

This week, all pupils in S4 will receive a copy of the prelim timetable. Prelims for these pupils will start on Tuesday 7 January and will go on until Friday 17 January. You can view a copy of the timetable, and also the instructions to pupils here. Please note that all pupils should attend school as normal during the prelim exams; when they are not sitting an exam, they will follow their normal timetable. Pupils who are not sure which exams they are sitting should speak to their subject teachers this week to find out.
