Managing My Learning

Recognition/ Reflection Action
What helps my learning? How can I utilise this?
Example: “Discussing the topic with others” ·       Set up a study group of like-minded peers

·       Engage with the online community

Making notes from the recommended reading ·       Do reading before each class

·       Take notes on what I have learned from the reading so I can reference and expand on it after each class

Reading lecture slides before each class ·       Take time out before each class to read over the slides so I have a good idea of what each lecture is about
Making notes during lectures ·       Reading over my notes after each class and adding in this information to what I already know e.g. recommended reading, slides
Studying with others ·       Studying with friends

·       Helps to share our ideas and encourages us to get work done

·       Can help one another if one of us is unsure about something

Staying Organised ·       Planning out when I have free time to study

·       Plan out what needs to be done first

·       Always giving myself plenty of time to get work done

Recognition/Reflection Action
What hinders my learning? How can I address this factor?
Example: “I’m easily distracted” ·       Study in a place where distractions are minimal

·       Read lecture notes before the lecture and then take notes lectures to keep me focused

Keeping up with lecturers during class ·       Ask lecturers to repeat what they have said or ask them after the class is over
Comprehending a large about of information at once ·       Going over slides, notes and reading multiple times to ensure I understand the information thoroughly
Procrastinating ·       Do not let other priorities give me the excuse not to do work

·       Ensure that I study before doing other things so that I do not procrastinate

Getting stressed ·       Allow myself plenty of time to do work so that if I need help or to give myself extra time, I do not need to worry about it
Getting distracted by my surroundings ·       Putting away my phone or turning off notifications

·       Allowing myself to study alone when I really need to focus

My First Blog Post

Being shy from a young age is something I could never control. During primary school it was clear that I struggled severely with my confidence until one of my teachers gave me the help I needed to overcome my struggle. One of the many reasons I aspire to become a primary teacher is due to the tremendous support teachers provide for their pupils. Aiding children from a young age to ensure they gain the skills needed to tackle any hurdle in life is one of the many rewarding aspects of being a teacher.
