Applications for 2027 will open in October 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Vision Schools Scotland timeline for 2025 to 2026:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>15th October 2025 to 28th February 2026<\/strong>: schools submit Expressions of Interest for Vision Schools Scotland accreditation. To be emailed to:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:visionschools@uws.ac.uk\">visionschools@uws.ac.uk<\/a>\u00a0For the Attention Of (FAO) Jane Caffrey including your school name.<\/li>\n<li><strong>13th April 2026<\/strong>: schools submit Level 1 Vision School Scotland applications.<\/li>\n<li><strong>13th May 2026:<\/strong>\u00a0Schools submit Level 2 Vision School Scotland applications.<\/li>\n<li><strong>June to August 2026 (dates to be confirmed):<\/strong>\u00a0Renewal Schools submit renewal applications.<\/li>\n<li><strong>End of June<\/strong>: Schools receive feedback on their application for Level 1 and Level 2.<\/li>\n<li><strong>November<\/strong>: successful schools awarded Vision Schools accreditation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"e-title open\" aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-label=\"Toggle accordion\">What to expect after applying<\/h3>\n<h4>Level 1 Applications<\/h4>\n<p>A member of the Vision Schools Team will contact the school\u2019s Lead Teacher in Holocaust Education before the end of June. They will either request a Teams meeting, or inform the School that their application has been forwarded to the Review Panel. At the Teams meeting, the contents of the application will be clarified and checked that it is ready for the Review Panel. If amendments to the application are required, schools will be given time to make these before the application is forwarded to the Review Panel.<\/p>\n<p>Schools will normally be notified before the end of June of the Reviewing Panel\u2019s decision. A member of the Vision Schools Scotland Team will email this information to the Lead Teacher in Holocaust Education (i.e. the teacher who has completed the\u00a0application).<\/p>\n<p>A member of the Vision Schools Scotland Team will send the school the Panel\u2019s written evaluation, visit successful schools to discuss the Panel\u2019s this evaluation, discuss Next Steps with schools and advise on the school\u2019s possible progression to Level 2. This visit normally lasts 1 hour.<\/p>\n<h4>Recognition of Commitment<\/h4>\n<p>Schools whose applications do not successfully meet the 5 required criteria will be awarded a Recognition of Commitment. They will be encouraged to liaise with a Vision School of their choice, to support their progression in becoming a Vision School.<\/p>\n<h4>Level 2 Applications<\/h4>\n<p>A member of the Vision Schools Team may contact the school\u2019s Lead Teacher in Holocaust Education before the end of August, requesting a Teams meeting to clarify the contents of their application. Where possible, schools will be given time to make required amendments.<\/p>\n<p>Where applications do not require clarification, Vision Schools Scotland will contact the school to arrange a school visit by a member of the Vision Schools Scotland team in August or September to obtain evidence for the outstanding Level 2 criteria.<\/p>\n<p>Schools will be provided with further information about this school visit which normally lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours.\u00a0At the end of this visit, a date will be agreed for a member of Vision School Scotland to return to the school to discuss the Panel\u2019s evaluation.<\/p>\n<p>A member of the Vision Schools Scotland Team will send the school the Panel\u2019s written evaluation, visit the school to discuss this evaluation, and discuss Next Steps. This visit normally lasts 1 hour.<\/p>\n<h4>Renewal Applications<\/h4>\n<p>A member of the Vision Schools Team may contact the school\u2019s Lead Teacher in Holocaust Education before the end of August, requesting a Teams meeting to clarify contents of their application.<\/p>\n<p>Where applications do not require clarification, and each criteria has been met, schools will receive a brief written evaluation of their renewal application confirming their renewal.<\/p>\n<p>Renewals will only be confirmed to schools that demonstrate the required criteria.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"e-title open\" aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-label=\"Toggle accordion\">Submission guidelines<\/h3>\n<p>Each entry should be accompanied by an (electronic) attachment. The attachment must be clearly labelled, and or numbered, to ensure Vision Schools reviewers can confirm that each of the criteria have been met. Attachments must be\u00a0<strong>Word<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>pdf<\/strong>, or\u00a0<strong>jpeg\u00a0<\/strong>documents.<\/p>\n<p>Attachments can include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>scans of extracts of school development plans<\/li>\n<li>teaching plans showing IDL<\/li>\n<li>lesson plans and accompanying PowerPoints<\/li>\n<li>samples of student work<\/li>\n<li>evaluation of school practice<\/li>\n<li>other documents that provide evidence that your school has met the specific outcomes of each of the criteria.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"e-title\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-label=\"Toggle accordion\">Application forms and how to submit<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Submit by email<\/strong>\u00a0to:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:visionschools@uws.ac.uk\">visionschools@uws.ac.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Title email: (FAO\u00a0Jane Caffrey) and include your school name.<\/p>\n<p>Send your complete application, and an accompanying email detailing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>name and contact details of your school<\/li>\n<li>Lead Teacher in Holocaust Education<\/li>\n<li>Level applied for.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Send emails organised as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1st email entitled Application Form<\/li>\n<li>2nd email entitled Criteria 1 (with attachments)<\/li>\n<li>3rd email entitled Criteria 2 (with attachments)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And so on until all criteria are sent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Upload to OneDrive,\u00a0<\/strong>arranged in the same formatting as the email process outlined above. Can I collate evidence of my teaching and my students\u2019 learning and forward this to you?<\/p>\n<h4>Answer:<\/h4>\n<p>No. You require to read the criteria and forward evidence that demonstrates that you have met each of the criteria. Evidence should be clearly labelled C1 (criteria 1), C2 (criteria 2), C3 (criteria 3), etc.<\/p>\n<h4>Question 2:<\/h4>\n<p>I teach Primary 7 and teach the Holocaust to Primary 7 pupils. Does the Holocaust require to be taught throughout the school to become a Vision School?<\/p>\n<h4>Answer<\/h4>\n<p>No, this is not necessary.
