Although it is important to identify where we are now, it is not enough to stop there. We need to reflect upon how we can develop the skills where we are less confident and how we can transfer the skills in which we are confident and competent.

Activity 2

Complete the audit below, using the information from the table above.

Skills already developed How will I use these How do I know (evidence)**
Team work  When working with others whether that be during my time in university or later on in teaching.  I was part of a team which travelled to Rwanda, during this time I was involved in many team activities and group decisions.
Take notes  When in lectures and workshops to help me learn and remember the crucial points which where made.  I have managed to take notes in lectures which I understand and can look back to for help on any areas that have been discussed.
Listen to others  When listening to other people’s views and opinions in relation to education or other areas.  I have been part of many discussions during lectures and workshops where I listened to other peoples views and opinions.
Organise and plan  When planning for assessments in university but also this would be an essential skill during my time as a teacher for example when organizing and planning lesson plans for the children.  I had to organize and plan for my semester one assignments.  For this I had to plan when each assignment was due and therefore organize the time and resources I needed in order to get them finished by the deadline.
Work under pressure  Having the ability to work under pressure will always be beneficial whether that be meeting university deadlines or creating lesson plans within the classroom. I also feel that working under pressure will become a large part of my MA1 placement.  Again, relating to my first semester assignments I feel I had the opportunity to develop my skills when working under pressure as I had all my assignments to prepare for.

** This section should be completed as you identify when/where/how you have used/developed these skills.

Skills to be developed How will I develop these How do I know (evidence)**
Be creative  I feel like I will have the ability to develop my creativity when I am on placement, this is because I will try my best to come up with new and exciting ways for the children to learn.
Self-confidence  I feel that my self confidence is something which I will have to continually work on and will have the opportunity on placement to develop this as well as throughout my time at university.
Evaluate information  I feel that I will have the opportunity on placement to evaluate many things including information and also my own processes and performances.
Take Risks  I feel like taking risks is an area which I will continue to work on throughout my time at university and through a variety of situations I will build up my ability to take such risks.
